GUWAHATI: Assam Government has issued a No-Objection Certificate(NOC) to Assistant Inspector General of Police (Sports) Anand Mishra's request on changing his cadre from the Assam to Bihar Cadre.

Anand Mishra had earlier reportedly asked for a cadre change from the present Assam Cadre to Bihar Cadre citing personal reasons.

The notice from the Assam government which was sent to Mishra to allow him to change his cadre reads, "With reference to the subject cited above, I am directed to enclose herewith a copy of letter mentioned under reference regarding petition submitted by Shri Anand Mishra, IPs (AM: 2011), Assistant Inspector General of Police (Sports), Assam praying for Inter Cadre Deputation to Bihar Cadre on the ground of extreme personal hardship and to inform you that the State Government has NO OBJECTION towards allowing Shri Anand Mishra, IPs (AM:2011) to proceed on Inter-cadre deputation from the Assam Segment of the Assam-Meghalaya Cadre Joint to Bihar Cadre as per extant Rules and guidelines"

Anand Mishra is one of the most well-known faces in uniform in Assam. He was earlier posted as Superintendent of Police Dhubri after that he was transferred to Nagaon as its Superintendent of Police.

He was embroiled in a controversy in Nagaon earlier this year in January when he shot a student leader and grievously injured him. This particular incident irked the public who came out in protest against the IPS officer. Some of the protesting public even wanted Anand Mishra's immediate suspension from service.

Notably, Nagaon Police made headlines for their massive operation against drugs in the district and the police officers were given the authority to shoot when any such drug peddler or criminal tried to flee from police custody.

This license to shoot was misused by some police officers.

After this incident, Anand Mishra was transferred to the Sports department when he was serving in the post of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
