Sentinel Digital Desk

GUWAHATI: An episode came to light where Guwahati bound passengers in Delhi are being harassed by the service offered by Air India.

The matter came under exposure on 23rd of February, in which a flight of Air India with flight number AI 889, which was scheduled to depart from Delhi airport on 22nd February, is still in the queue waiting for the pilots.

The passengers are quite agitated by the mismanagement, and one of the them stated that initially there was absence of crew for the flight, however, the pilots reached after sometime.

Taking the happening to Twitter, a person named Ripunjoy Bhuyan wrote, "@airindiain what a absolute mismanaged AI 889 flight is delayed due to no crew. Pilot is there but no crew. 9:25 is the flight but till now no show of the crew. Please take action.” The people are absolutely unhappy with the management provided by Air India.

As per an official of Air India, certain crew related issues was going on in Delhi, but these will be restored as soon as possible by the concerned authorities. It is worth mentioning here that, Air India recently announced that it would purchase as many as 540 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus. Setting a benchmark, Air India will be the first one to put up such a massive order.

This particular step will automatically offer access to TATA group airlines to enlarge its connections with India as well as other countries.

But, the recent behaviour and mismanagement by the airlines against the Guwahati bound passengers in Delhi has rashly speculations regarding the same. According to experts, the large scale of the new order suggests that Air India intends to reestablish its leading position in the competitive Indian aviation market and gain an advantage in providing services globally.

Mark Martin, an aviation analyst, said that Air India’s new plane orders will align its fleet with Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines, which are part of the world’s largest global airline alliance, Star Alliance. He added that this move appears to be a strategic plan to compete against Gulf carriers, who are viewed as an arch nemesis by Star Alliance.
