Guwahati: Shattered by the demise of former Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal said they had shared a very cordial relationship.

"Tarun Gogoi loved me a lot. We had a family relationship," said All India Democratic Front (AIUDF) supremo Maulana Badruddin Ajmal.

Ajmal also stated that during Gogoi's 15-year-reign, the pace of Assam's development had reached its peak.

"Even after the closed-door meetings, when everyone left, he urged me to stay with him to talk to him. We had a family relation," Ajmal added.

According to Ajmal, it was Tarun Gogoi who provided security and solved the insurgency issue of Assam. He had developed road infrastructures and the educational sector too.

He plans to publish a biography on Tarun Gogoi on behalf of Ajmal Foundation.

Ahead of 2021 Assembly elections, Tarun Gogoi had played an instrumental role in trying to forge an alliance between Congress and Badruddin Ajmal's AIUDF.

Ajmal had visited Gogoi several times at the hospital and also organised 'dua' at his Hojai's residence for the speedy recovery of Gogoi.
