SILCHAR: Arrest of a youth from Cachar's Katigorah in Bangalore now led to his link with Al Qaida. On Wednesday, Katigorah police visited the house of Sajida Begum at Telitikor area whose son Akhtar Hussain Barbhuiyan was arrested for his alleged link with the global terror outfit Al Qaida. Sources said, Akhtar, who had been working as a delivery boy in Bangalore since 2018 was arrested on Monday by a central crime branch. He was arrested from a flat in Jayanagar area of Bangalore for his alleged link with Laskar-e-Tayba, but after interrogation, the central crime branch sleuth got inputs of Akhtar working for Al Qaida.

Meanwhile, Sajida Begum refuted the charge of his son being associated with any militant outfit. Sajida said she had talked to Akhtar on Saturday last and since then his mobile was switched off. Later she could learn from the local police that her son was arrested in Bangalore. Akhtar's father Abdul Kader Laskar had died few years back. Akhtar's younger brother Adil Hussain Laskar too had been working in Bangalore.
