DOOMDOOMA: The All Adivasi Students' Association, Assam (AASAA) Tinsukia District Committee will launch a series of agitation programmes against the BJP-led government for its 'betrayal' in not fulfilling the promise to accord ST status to Adivasis of Assam within 60 days of coming to power. A resolution to this effect was adopted in an online meeting of the Adivasi students' body on Sunday. In a press release, it stated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured just before the Assembly election to accord ST status to the Adivasi people within 60 days if BJP was voted to power in Assam. But it forgot its promise after coming to power and now its tenure would come to an end, the press release further stated.
