“The Assam government have failed to curb the price of essential commodities which are skyrocketing nowadays. The price of LPG has risen up to Rs 1200. Prices of essential commodities has been increased. The common people are having a tough time to run their families,” said Aboni Kumar Gogoi, AASU, district secretary.

He said, “The Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ranjit Dass and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have failed miserably to control the rising prices.” “The government should immediately take steps to curb the spiralling price of essential commodities and make it affordable for the common people. The price of fuel must also come down. The government have committed to work for the people but the price rise has proved that it has miserably failed,” he said.

Morigaon: In protest against the price hike of essential commodities, fuel, electricity and tollgate, All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Tuesday rented the air throughout the State. AASU, Morigaon district committee came down heavily on the State government by staging a protest programme across the town for hiking the price of the essential commodities. The protest was led by Morigaon District Students’ Union president Dipul Kumar Nath and general secretary Rupjyoti Medhi. They said the price hike of essential commodities has affected the common people.

The present Assam government is busy announcing schemes, but has completely failed to control price hike. In this BJP government, price increases appear to have eclipsed all previous records. The government should take action against the price hike and relieve the poor people. The government has stopped giving computers to the students and instead of that they have provided scooty. The organization has asked the government to determine if a day labourer's family will spend 200 rupees on mustard oil for his household or 102 rupees on petrol for the scooty.
