All Assam Students’ Union protests alleged negligence of NHIDCL

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) Gaurisagar Regional Unit and Gaurisagar Bibasayee Santha in Sivasagar district took out a symbolic funeral procession of the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) on Thursday for their alleged negligence in construction of four-lane highway on the Jhanji-Gaurisagar stretch.

GAURISAGAR: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) Gaurisagar Regional Unit and Gaurisagar Bibasayee Santha in Sivasagar district took out a symbolic funeral procession of the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) on Thursday for their alleged negligence in construction of four-lane highway on the Jhanji-Gaurisagar stretch.

The rally was taken out on NH-37 throughout Gaurisagar led by Bikram Borah and Roman Dutta, president and secretary respectively of AASU Gaurisagar Regional Unit, and other leaders. The protesters shouted various slogans against NHIDCL, the BJP-led government and the construction company for their sheer negligence and apathy in the construction of the four-lane road.

The protesters alleged that due to the deplorable condition of NH-37 from Jhanji to Demow portion, numerous accidents take place. The incomplete drains on both sides of NH-37 are causing threat to life. The AASU activists also threatened an agitation if NHIDCL did not take necessary steps.
