LAKHIMPUR: The activists of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) rocked Lakhimpur on Friday by initiating protest programmes against the sky-rocketing prices of petro-products like petrol, diesel, Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) and essential commodities in the State.
All the regional bodies of the organization, under Lakhimpur district unit, staged protest programme in their respective jurisdictions as per the instructions issued by the district committee. The activists of the North Lakhimpur regional unit of the organization, led by the general secretary, staged human chain in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office and flayed the State Government, Supply Department, Supply Minister Ranjeet Dass regarding the issue by shouting slogans. By staging the protest, the organization condemned the alleged failure on the part of the State Government with regard to controlling the exorbitant prices of petro-products and essential commodities and demanded to control price hike at the earliest.
