LAKHIMPUR: All Assam Unemployed Association (AAUA) has demanded the State Government to extend the time for unemployed youths of the State for the online registration of their names in the Employment Exchange Offices up to the month of August. The organization has raised the demand through a press release.

"At present, the number of unemployed youths in the State has crossed the mark of 22 lakh. The State Government asked these unemployed youths to register their names in the Employment Exchange Offices online before March 31. But the matter of serious concern is that only 3,84,608 people could register their names during the given time period. It is unfortunate that the State Government did not pay heed to extend the time for the online registration though our organization had consecutively demanded the government for the same," AAUA president Dharmendra Deuri and general secretary Jiban Rajkhowa said in the press release,

The same press release further stated, "The move taken for online registration of unemployed youths by the State Government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma is a well-hatched plan to show a low figure regarding the number of the unemployed youths in the State. In this backdrop, a large number of unemployed youths will be deprived of appointment, the process of which has been initiated by the State Government as the result of the consecutive declaration made by the Chief Minister with regard to appointing one lakh youths every year."
