KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) expressed grief over the incident of Ma Kamala ferry collision in the Brahmaputra from Majuli to Jorhat at Nimati Ghat. The president of the ABSU, Dipen Boro and general secretary Khanindra Basumatary said that the incident was very shocking in which Parimita Das, Assistant Professor of Rongshahi, and two others went missing. The ABSU condoled the loss of lives in this accident and prayed to the almighty for their eternal peace and shared the grief of the bereaved families. They appealed to the Government of Assam to provide adequate compensation to those who had lost their lives.
Further, the ABSU urged the Government of Assam to take immediate measures to construct bridge over the Brahmaputra from Jorhat to Majuli. The ABSU demanded the Government of Assam to take safety measures for inland water transport from Dubhri to Sadiya operating in the River Brahmaputra and to provide all means of protection necessary to prevent such accidents. The union also demanded stringent action against the officers and employees involved in showing negligence in operating the ferry that day.
