All Bodo Students’ Union agrees to temporarily suspend agitation for NAAC team’s visit

ABSU has agreed to the temporary suspension of a series of agitation programmes demanding the removal of the Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University, Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh

KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has agreed to the temporary suspension of a series of agitation programmes demanding the removal of the Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University, Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh.

In a press note, the vice president of the ABSU, Kwrwmdao Wary said the agitation has been temporarily suspended till October 18 due to the NAAC team’s visit to the university. He said that on the request of the Principal Secretary of BTC through a letter and call for negotiation on October 10, a meeting was held with the BTC government in the presence of CEM Pramod Boro, where Principal Secretary Akash Deep and Secretary, Education, Amarjyoti Barman were present.

The discussion was held on the issue of the ‘corrupt’ Vice Chancellor as ABSU has been demanding his removal from office by the Governor and Chancellor of the Bodoland University, after being accused under the Vigilance Police Station case no. 01/2022 under Sections 120(B)/420/409 IPC, read with Section 13(a) (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as investigated by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Assam and the CM’s Special Vigilance Cell.

In the meeting, it was decided that the BTC government would write to the Governor for resolution of the issues raised by ABSU. A meeting between the ABSU and the BTC government with the Governor of Assam and the Chancellor of Bodoland University will be arranged soon.

Keeping in mind the request to suspend the agitation

to the NAAC visit at Bodoland University, the ABSU agreed to suspend the ongoing agitation till October 18. The agitation will resume from October 19 from 10 AM onwards.
