KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) on Tuesday reiterated that some elements were trying to disrupt the smooth functioning of BTC government by airing divisive comments for their selfish interest and cautioned them to stay away from giving inharmonious remarks.

Talking to media persons in Kokrajhar, the president of ABSU Dipen Boro said the ABSU felt discontent over the remarks of BJP EM Arup Kr. Dey who recently said the BJP could change BTC in seconds if necessary. He said the remark of Dey was unfortunate at this point of time as the present coalition government in BTC was trying to bring a sustainable development for all communities in the council with inclusive and comprehensive policies. He also said BTC was an outcome at the cost of supreme sacrifices of Bodo people where over 5000 people lost lives.

Boro said EM Arup Kr. Dey was neither involved in ABSU and BLT movement nor in NDFB movement to pass troublesome comments. He said the divisive comments by an individual who had no deep knowledge about the history of Bodo movement has hurt the sentiments of Bodo people who got peace after decades of struggle. He also cautioned anti BTR elements to stay away from giving divisive remarks. He further said peace has returned to the region after long years of movement and thus the ABSU wants smooth sailing of the present BTR coalition government and work for the welfare of people of the region.

Boro said EM Arup Kr. Dey was the in-charge of the Health department of BTC but he has miserably failed to bring significant improvement in his department. He said health was a very important subject as BTR lacks proper health care facilities in the rural areas and there is no considerable change in the existing health centres. He also said Dey should better resign from the Health department if he has no will power to look after his department with dedication.

Meanwhile, the argument and counter argument between EM Arup Kr. Dey and UPPL general secretary Raju Kr. Narzary was continuing as both were passing their comments before media persons. Dey, a contractor turned politician, seemed to be adamant and justified that his remarks were correct.
