All Bodo Students’ Union not to support Citizenship Amendment Act movement

KOKRAJHAR: All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) on Tuesday said that they will not support the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) movement in Assam. They reiterated for the speedy implementation of all clauses of BTR accord.

In a press meet held at Bodofa House in Kokrajhar on Tuesday, the president of ABSU Dipen Boro said, “We will not support the re-start of CAA movement but government should take step for comprehensive solution.” He said ABSU does not want rivival of problems for CAA in Assam.

Boro said the clauses of BTR accord had not been fully implemented till today which could bring misunderstanding among the masses. He said as per clauses of BTR accord there had been assurances of increasing administrative, executive, legislative and funding pattern of BTR but these are not implemented as per the spirit of the accord. He said some of the clauses of the accord were being implemented but most of them are still implemented partially. The people of BTC region want timely implementation of all clauses of BTR accord, he said adding that the government should pass voice vote on the extention of more villages in BTR in Sonitpur and Biswanath districts, extension of constituencies of BTC from existing 40 to 60 through delimitation of constituencies as early as possible. He further said the issues of BKWAC should also be given due importance as it is also created as part of BTR accord.
