All Bodo Students Union observes 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) observed the 151st birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation and International Day

KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) observed the 151st birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation and International Day of Non-violence at Lakhi Mandir Playground, Jalah in Baksa district with a day-long colourful programme. The day's event was scheduled with morning prayer followed by hoisting of national flag by Bhabesh Sharma, Principal of Dr. Ananta Academy, and flag of the ABSU was unfurled by Dipen Boro, president of the union, while floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi was initiated by Nripendra Nath Sharma, retired Headmaster of Shri Shri Lakshmi High School, Uzirbari while the Principal of BB Kishan College Dr. Keshab Basumatary released the white pigeon for peace and non-violence, which was followed by open session on the theme 'Non-Violence and Peace is the master key in building a strong society; its relevance after signing of BTR Peace accord'.

This session was attended as chief guest by Samudra Gupta Kashyap, journalist and State Information Commissioner. The appointed speaker was journalist Jayanta Kr. Das. The president of United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) and former ABSU president Promod Boro and other distinguished guests also attended the meeting.
