GUWAHATI: The number of PPOs received at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati placements for the 2022–2023 academic year was 218—the most in the previous four years.
The biggest pre-placement offer ever received was Rs 1.20 crore in 2022, which the institute proudly claims to be an all-time high. 919 offers were made during Phase 1 of the placements, with the highest offer being for Rs 2.4 crore.
In the previous four years, BTech in Mechanical Engineering students' average CTC was 17 LPA; this year, it is 19 LPA. The placement process is still in its second phase.
The highest package this year is 45 LPA, which is higher than the typical maximum package for BTech in Mechanical Engineering students, which is above 39 LPA. The average annual pay for BTech students in the Mechanical Engineering department dropped from Rs 20 lakh in 2021 to Rs 19 lakh in 2022.
Moreover, from 85 to 81, both the overall number of offers and the percentage of students who were placed declined (for both categories).
The BTech in Mechanical Engineering students are hired in a variety of core, technical, and non-technical areas.
Almost all of the biggest employers from India and overseas take part and hire IIT Guwahati students. Reliance Industries Limited, Bajaj Auto Ltd., Sterlite Tech, Mercedes, Cummins Inc., Schlumberger, and Oil India Limited are a few notable core recruiters.
Surprisingly, many MNCs, including Amazon, Nutanix, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, Accenture, Oracle, Microsoft, Google, Rakuten, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Wells Fargo, and Fractal Analytics, are open to other branches thanks to the academic preparation of IIT Guwahati students.
