JORHAT:

According to reports, the COVID-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges for professionals in a variety of fields, as well as many self-employed individuals. But, undeterred by the current adversity, two highly qualified youths of Jorhat have established a micro-industry to earn a living.

Two to three months ago, Angshuman Bora and Manash Jyoti Barua of the Pulibor region started a small chappal (slipper) manufacturing firm. They purchased the machinery in Delhi to manufacture footwear for their chappal industry

"We bought our machine from Delhi. In January, Manash and I traveled to Delhi. We visited chappal manufacturing factories there and acquired chappal manufacturing skill. Later we did a survey here in local markets and decided to buy a machine for producing chappal. We have been getting positive market response," said Angshuman.

One of the young folks has a degree in engineering, while the other has a master's degree in commerce.

The ambitious youths have also established a small spice manufacturing industry.

"We have been producing spices also. The brand name of our spice is Tripti. You can buy our product from our local markets in Jorhat town", said Manash.

The young entrepreneur duo began their business by establishing a small incubator manufacturing industry.

"Now we are also manufacturing incubators apart from chappals and producing spices. The incubators produced by us have been getting positive market response across Assam," they said.

This inspirational endeavor by the young duo of Assam should serve as an excellent example for the youth of the state. Even in troubled times like this, the business venture undertaken by the youths deserves respect and recognition. The heroic business venture undertaken by the two Assamese youth to set up a chappal industry gives us an important lesson on the human being's inherent capability "to strive, to seek and never give up."
