LAKHIMPUR: As per the schedule made by the government, the Amrit Kalash Yatra under ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign from Lakhimpur district to Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra of Guwahati was conducted on Wednesday. Through this journey, the urns of collected soil from nine Development Blocks and four Municipal Boards of the district were sent to Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.

Notably, the Panchayat-level events regarding the Amrit Kalash Yatra at all Gaon Panchayats under the Lakhimpur district were held from September 20 along with the rest of the State as per government schedule. From September 20 to October 1, every household in every village and ward under the district gave a fistful of soil to the teams of people formed by the District Commissioner. On the other hand, those people, who have no land of their own, gave a fistful of rice to the teams concerned.

On October 2, the teams brought the collected urns of soil to their respective Gaon Panchayat (GP) offices and the offices of civic bodies. At the GP and civic body offices, the teams mixed the collected soil and sent it to the Development Blocks in 20 kalash (urns). The excess soil has been preserved to be used for any auspicious works in the localities, like foundation stone laying, constructing temples, namghars, etc. Then the Block Offices mixed the soil collected from each GP and ward and packed it into two urns, leaving excess soil for use in auspicious works at the block level. On October 25, each Block Office sent two urns filled with soil to the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

After receiving the urns at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, officials of the State Government will mix the soil and keep it in two sets of pitchers (2X270). On October 27, the State Government will send one of the two sets of urns (270) to New Delhi by the Rajdhani Express, and on October 28, the urns will be kept at Assam House in New Delhi for their use in the Amrit Udyan under construction. The State Government will take the 270 urns to be left in Assam to Gohpur on December 22 for use at the proposed Kanaklata Baruah University.

In connection with the Amrit Kalash Yatra from Lakhimpur to Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, a ceremonial event was organized at the Circuit House, located at North Lakhimpur town. The event was attended by District Development Commissioner Utpal Borah, Lakhimpur Block Development Officer Seuti Doley, Karunabari Block Development Officer Kaveri Borgohain, Narayanpur Block Development Officer Sewali Pegu along with the officers of the district administration and employees of the Block Offices.
