LAKHIMPUR: As a part of the celebration of the Rongali Bihu, a colourful programme, titled 'Poromporar Eta Din', was organized by Dhakuakhana College of Lakhimpur district on Tuesday. The event was organized in view of spreading and preserving the Assamese culture with its original essence.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Jogananda Sut, the Principal of the college. It was followed by a symposium held under the management of Professor Dr. Pankaj Borah. Professor Sewok Chandra Chutia and Vice-Principal Chitra Kumar Koch delivered lectures in the symposium on the evolution, tradition of Bihu throwing light upon the culture and Bihu naams. SDO (Civil) of Dhakuakhana, Arindam Baruah delivered a lecture on the programme as a special guest. As a part of the event, a drive of planting Kapou Phul, the orchid, was taken under the leadership of Professor Monoranjan Bordoloi. Then the students and teachers of every academic department of the college showcased Mukoli Bihu wearing the traditional Bihu attires. The alumni of the college also took part in the event.
