Animal vaccination camp held by State Veterinary Dispensary of Kalaigaon

KALAIGAON: An animal health camp-cum-vaccination programme was organized by the State Veterinary Dispensary of Kalaigaon under National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) in various villages of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle in order to extend a helping hand to the livestock farmers where the State Veterinary Dispensary gave the Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination to more than 6,500 animals in the first phase recently.

According to the veterinary officer Dr Prafulla, Brucellosis is another bacterial disease of animals causing premature birth in pregnant heifers and cows which leads to arthritis in cows. In this condition, Brucella vaccine can prevent the disease like Brucellosis after inoculating the vaccine to the female calf of 4-8 months age.

Meanwhile, Veterinary Officer Dr Konwar said that Brucella vaccination programme is being conducted under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) scheme and 700 female calves were vaccinated in the Kalaigaon area.
