TEZPUR: In yet another road accident, a truck bearing registration number NL01-AB 3444 and pick-up truck collided with another vehicle at Kolia Bhomora Bridge in Tezpur on Thursday night leaving one injured and one missing.

The incident occurred when the truck was heading towards Tezpur from Tinsukia. The truck collided with a freight-carrying vehicle and rammed into the railings. After the collision, the truck remained suspended at the edge of the bridge.

While talking to the media, truck driver Monoj Shao, resident of Kokrajhar district, informed that handyman of the truck, Dilip Tassa, resident of Bagori in Kagiranga, is reportedly missing since the incident and there is no trace of him yet and he also said that they were travelling from Tinsukia to Tezpur.

As per reports, the steering of the truck was reportedly found to be jammed due to which it might have collided with a freight-carrying vehicle after which it rammed into the railings and remained suspended right at the edge of the bridge. It is suspected that the truck's handyman fell into Brahmaputra River after the truck crashed into the railings.

Sonitpur Police officials, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), NDRF personnel have reached the spot and the search operation is underway for the missing handyman.

It is not for the first time that such an accident has taken place over the bridge in the Brahmaputra. On November 22, another truck similarly broke through the railings and fell into the Brahmaputra River.
