Anti-drug awareness drive of “Nasha Mukht Bharat” launched by Udalguri Police

As a part of the anti-drug awareness drive of “Nasha Mukht Bharat”, Udalguri Police launched a district level drug de-addiction campaign and hosted a street play in Tangla town of Udalguri district on Monday.

TANGLA: As a part of the anti-drug awareness drive of “Nasha Mukht Bharat”, Udalguri Police launched a district level drug de-addiction campaign and hosted a street play in Tangla town of Udalguri district on Monday. The play where artistes of Dapon theatre group of NSD Alumni Pabitra Rabha performed highlighted the ill effects of drug abuse on youths and their families in particular and society at large. Udalguri Superintendent of Police, Supriya Das said that the drug abuse have serious consequences and ill effects on the abuser specifically youths who drop out of school and even commit petty crimes and society and its stakeholders have a pivotal role to bring the young minds to the right track who have fallen to the trap of drug addiction. NSD Alumni, Pabitra Rabha praised the efforts of the Assam Police for their zero-tolerance action against drug traffickers. He emphasized on sensitizing parents and society as a whole about the adverse effects of drug abuse and said that they can play a pivotal role in curbing the use of drugs. He further said that mass awareness against drugs needs to be created by involving all stakeholders and urged stakeholders such as women, children, youths, educational institutes and civil society bodies to join hands in the movement “against all sorts of drug addiction and abuse.” The event was also attended by Udalguri Additional SP (Hq) AJ Baruah; Udalguri Additional SP (Crime) Jyoti Prasad Pegu; IPS (P) S. Mishra,Tangla PS Officer-in-Charge, Biswajit Medhi among others.
