APART conducts technology demonstration for farmers in Lakhimpur

An event on ceremonial transplanting of Sali rice through scientific intervention was performed at Nizarapar village of Nowboicha block

LAKHIMPUR: An event on ceremonial transplanting of Sali rice through scientific intervention was performed at Nizarapar village of Nowboicha block under the aegis of Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lakhimpur. The demonstration was conducted on Tuesday in the field of farmer Bipul Bhuyan, Sarani village under Nowboicha block where he demonstrated the use of the mechanical paddy transplanter. While carrying out the demonstration, APART Project Associate Mouchumi Dutta highlighted the cost effectiveness and labour intensive nature of mechanical transplanting over manual transplanting.

On the same day, another technology intervention named Integrated Crop Management Demonstration (ICMD) was conducted in the field of women farmers Punya Borgohain of Bokanadi village and Rupali Saikia of Nizarapar village under Nowboicha Block. Assistant Project Scientist of APART, Brishti Saikia explained and demonstrated the seedling root dip treatment to the farmers before the transplanting operation as a crop protection measure.

Research Technician of APART Durlov Bora and Research Technician of International Rice Research Institute(IRRI) Sanjay Kumar Yadav extended cooperation in helping the farmers in smooth conduct of the demonstrations by operating the machines.
