Arrested DIG Raunak Ali Hazarika Suffers Heart Attack, Stable

According to sources he suffered two heart attacks earlier and after this time it is the third attack which Raunak has suffered but however he is now stable.

Guwahati: DIG Raunak Ali Hazarika who was arrested for possessing disproportionate assets, was reportedly suffered a heart attack at the police station on Wednesday night.

Soon after the incident, he was rushed Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH).

Meanwhile, doctors from MMCH referred him to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced treatment.

According to sources he suffered two heart attacks earlier and after this time it is the third attack which Raunak has suffered but however he is now stable.

DIG Raunak Ali Hazarika who was previously suspended by the Assam government has now been arrested by a team of CM Vigilance for possessing disproportionate assets. A team of the CM Vigilance cell headed by Superintendent of Police Rosy Kalita arrested DIG Raunak Ali Hazarika from his Hengrabari residence. Earlier, the senior IPS officer was reportedly suspended by the Assam government for travelling abroad too often without the permission of the Home Department of Assam Government.

A notification issued by the Governor of Assam informing about Hazarika's suspension reads, "Whereas report has been received that Rounak Ali Hazarika, IPS had undertaken many foreign visits since 2011, "Whereas Rounak Ali Hazarika, IPS had never obtained prior permission from the Home Department, Government of Assam for numerous visits abroad since his joining the Assam Police Service (APS) cadre in the year 1992 till date,

"And whereas on the above ground of flouting of Government guidelines on several occasions and gross misconduct a disciplinary proceeding against Rounak Ali Hazarika, IPS is necessary; "Now, therefore, the Governor of Assam, in the exercise of powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-rule (i) of rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules.1969, hereby places the said Sri Rounak All Hazarika, IPS under suspension with immediate effect.
