LAKHIMPUR: Ashok Singhal, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Irrigation Department, on Friday attended the Passing Out Parade of the 117th Batch of the AB Constable at 13th Assam Police Battalion parade ground at Lilabari in Lakhimpur district as chief guest. The minister, while attending the event, took the salute of the passing out constables in addition to reviewing their parade. He also distributed the prizes to the constables, who showed best performances in various heads during their training.
In the event. a total of 559 police personnel received the passing out certificates after successfully completing the 40-week-long training from the month of June last year. Among them 198 jawans are from 12th Assam Police Battalion, Jamugurihat, Biswanath district, 102 jawans are from 13th Assam Police Battalion, Lilabari, Lakhimpur district and 259 jawans are from 22nd Assam Police Battalion, Likabali, Dhemaji district.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Singhal congratulated the police personnel for successful completion of their training and inspired them to work for the service of mankind sincerely and dedicatedly. “We cannot imagine a peaceful society without the sincere duty and sacrifice of the police department. This parade has reflected a picture of Assam which is full of self confidence, valour and determined attitude,” the minister said. He encouraged the fresh constables to shoulder the responsibility of securing the nation and the citizens from this day. He asserted that the police personnel should ensure their service for the needy and to check the criminality.
Bijoy Giri Kuligram, IPS, Deputy IGP (NR), Assam, Tezpur also addressed the fresh constables in the event, which was attended by Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka, 13th Assam Police Battalion Commander Fokrul Islam, 22nd Assam Police (IR) Battalion Commander M Ahmed along with a galaxy of prominent personalities.
