LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYP) observed its 21st foundation day on Sunday adhering to the COVID-19 protocol.

On this occasion, the organization organized a programme at Ahu Chaol Gaon Ranga Mancha in North Lakhimpur town. The agenda of the lowkey celebration of the event began with unfurling of the organizational flag by district president Haren Baruah. Secretary Mobin Ahmed administered the Swahid Tarpan event. Cultural activists Prasanna Sarmah, Deepa Das, Jagriti Sangeet Vidyalaya principal Jebi Saikia were present in the programme and spoke on the occasion.

In the programme, the dignitaries of the organization reiterated its demands to accord full autonomous status to Assam and introduce inner line permit (ILP) in the State. They expressed resentment against the Union and State governments by asserting that both governments had been turning their deaf years to these judicious demands raised by the organization.

The Bihpuriya, Narayanpur, Laluk, Kadam, Siyajuli regional committees under Lakhimpur district unit of AJYP also observed the event in their respective jurisdiction by organizing due programmes.
