Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad stages protest against corruption and price hike

GOLAGHAT: The activists of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYP), Golaghat district unit staged protest near the District Commissioner’s office on Tuesday in Golaghat to protest against corruption in seed distribution in the Golaghat Agriculture Office and price hike of essential commodities. The activists raised various slogans against the State Government as well as the supply department.

The president and general secretary of the organization, Bipul Bora and Rajib Laskar respectively said that huge anomalies took place in the distribution of seeds in the agriculture office of Golaghat. The organization demanded immediate inquiry into the matter and stringent punishment to the corrupt officials. Further, they criticized the Assam Government for failing to control price hike of essential commodities. Due to the sky-rocketing price hike, the common people are struggling to run their families, said the activists.

The organization threatened that if the BJP-led government failed to take any proper initiative to control price hike, AJYP would carry out massive protest against the government. Besides, the Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital is the only hope for the people of greater region of Golaghat, Bokakhat and Karbi Anglong district. But patients have to suffer a lot due to insufficient medical infrastructure and medicines in the civil hospital. The organization demanded the government to provide sufficient medicines and develop the infrastructure of the Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital. In this regard, they submitted a memoradam to the District Commissioner of Golaghat.
