Asomi Mela inaugurated on the occasion of 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan

TINSUKIA: District Commissioner of Tinsukia Narsing Pawar inaugurated the Asomi Mela on Monday which will continue till November 24 at Dak Bungalow premises on the occasion of 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan. It was organized by Tinsukia District Administration and Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission. The programme was attended by District Development Commissioner Nayanjyoti Bhagwati, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Munindra Bardoloi, Zilla Parishad President Rajendra Kairi. The exhibition was held in conjunction with the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan. About 30 self-help groups from seven development blocks participated in the exhibition. Narsing Pawar said that the cooperation of the people was essential in the initiatives taken by the Government of Assam to spread the ideals and sentiments of Bir Lachit Barphukan, the fadeless symbol of courage and bravery. The district administration also sought the cooperation of the people in the week-long programmes organized to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan.
