Guwahati: With the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) finally declaring the Assam 12th result today after a long wait, eyes of all candidates will be on the results.
With bated breath, the people of Assam awaiting news of the results, and all eyes are now focussed on the rank holders whose hard toil finally paid off. As for the also-rans, there is always a next time, and of course, the Higher Secondary can indeed be said to be only a stepping stone along the path to greater success. So, while those who have earned plaudits can bask in the glow of their achievement, those who did not make the cut should not be disheartened and try harder next year, as success takes toil and perseverance.
In Arts, Pubali Deka from Patharighat HS School and Shraddha Borgohain from the Ramanujan Junior College in Nagaon have emerged as the joint toppers this year. Abinash Kalita from the Anundoram Baroaah Academy with 486 marks has emerged as the topper in the AHSEC's 12th exam. At the same time, Krishna Maheshwari from the Salt Brook Academy in Dibrugarh, with 471 marks has emerged as this's year's topper in Commerce stream.

In the arts stream, the pass percentage has improved to 78.28%, up from 75.14% a year earlier. While last year's topper in the stream secured 478 marks, this year both the toppers have secured 481 marks. In the Arts stream, Darrang district students have recorded a pass percentage of 89.07% -- the highest in Assam.
In Commerce, the pass percentage was 87.59% in 2019, but it has risen to 88.18% this year. While last year's tower secured 474 marks, this year, the topper has scored 471 marks. The students of Chirang, Majuli, and West Karbi Anglong districts have maintained a perfect pass percentage of 100% this year in the stream.
Science stream students have also performed well this year, and the pass percentage has risen to 88.06%, up from 86.59% a year ago. The students of Sivasagar, with a 95.97% pass percentage, have emerged as the brightest lot in the exams this year.
