Assam: 15 cows saved from slaughtering at Rangia

The Rangia police, headed by OC Bhaskar Mallah Patowary, saved 15 cows from the hands of slaughter on Saturday.

RANGIA: The Rangia police, headed by OC Bhaskar Mallah Patowary, saved 15 cows from the hands of slaughter on Saturday. According to the OC, on the basis of a tip-off, they conducted a raid in the house of Imam Hussain of Rangia Bongaon, Ward No. 3, under Rangia Police Station in the Kamrup district and recovered one Renault Triber vehicle (AS01EG 9585) loaded with two cows and some apparatus for rope, etc., for slaughtering. The police apprehended Nazrul Ali, son of Hobibur Rahman of Kalitakuchi Bamunbari, under PS Hajo. Three people, however, fled the scene through the rear side of the house, the police said.

It is alleged that Imam Hussain has been illegally running a slaughterhouse for the past few years from his house. During the search operation, the police recovered 13 cows from a closed room. The cows are suspected to have been stolen. The police seized all the cows.
