Assam: 150 people with BJP, AGP leaders join Congress in Lakhimpur District

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Congress Committee (LDCC) organized a joining programme in the district on Wednesday. The programme was held at Shanti Sangha under newly delimited Ranganadi LAC of the district under the management of LDCC general secretary (administrative) Gangajyoti Tayegam. The meeting organized on the occasion was chaired by LDCC president Gagan Chandra Borah. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah attended the programme as chief guest, wherein former Union Minister Pawan Singh Ghatowar, APCC general secretary Padma Losan Doley, APCC Teachers’ Cell chairman Dr Padmeswar Doley, APCC secretary Jintu Hazarika were also present.

In the programme, a total of 150 members and supporters from different political parties, including BJP’s district committee executive member-cum-assistant convener of Legal Cell Haren Sarma, AGP’s Madhya Nowboicha unit Yuva Parishad organizing secretary Jayanta Dutta, BJP’s Nowboicha Mandal unit Kissan Morcha general secretary Devajyoti Saikia and BJP’s Nowboicha Mandal unit former organizing secretary Prafulla Borah joined Congress. The APCC president welcomed the newcomers to the party with gamosa.
