GUWAHATI: A road accident that happened at Teok under Assam's Jorhat district on Saturday injured at least 22 female tea workers.

The injuries, according to sources, were caused when the car carrying the tea workers lost control and tipped over on the side of the road.

The incident was reported near the Meleng tea estate in Teok. The tragedy happened as the tea workers were being brought to the estate for their regular duties.

After the occurrence, Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) received a rush of injured women for treatment.

The Sonitpur area of Assam experienced a serious traffic accident last month that claimed the lives of at least five people. When the car they were riding in lost control and crashed into a roadside ditch in Balipara, it was travelling in the direction of Tezpur.

Akashdeep Borah, Bhaikon Potongiya, Bidyut Kumar Nath, Biswajit Saikia, and Dipen Borah were identified as the deceased.

According to reports that surfaced on Friday, a father-son pair was killed in a serious traffic accident in Gogamukh, Assam. Initial reports state that the two were inside a car when it hit head-on with a night-super bus in Chauldhowa Bali hamlet in Assam's Dhemaji district's Gogamukh subdivision.

The incident resulted in both of them passing away right afterwards. According to the information, the accident was caused by a head-on collision between a Tata Nexon automobile and a passenger bus while it was making its way from Guwahati to Dhemaji.

Later, authorities showed up and removed the dead from the scene. The deceased were identified as Imam Ali and Senim Ali (the father) (son).

As the vehicle with the licence plate AS 07 V 6761 was badly damaged, the bus also sustained significant harm.

At least two youngsters were injured in two separate accidents that were recorded in Guwahati earlier on March 16. Two automobiles reportedly crashed head-on near Lakhiminagar in the Hatigaon neighbourhood of Guwahati.
