Assam: 3 APDCL Employees Accused Of Money Embezzlement

GUWAHATI: On Friday 28 January the authorities of GMCH (Guwahati Medical College and Hospital) alleged that three APDCL employees are engaged in illegal exchange of money.

Three employees of APDCL (Assam Power Distribution Company Limited) have been accused of involvement in embezzling lakhs of amounts using fraud certificates.

The three accused persons were later identified as namely Surya Kanta Bodo, Debojit Konwar and Hiteshwar Das, all working as APDCL employees.

There are accusations by GMCH officials that all the three employees had embezzled with a huge amount of money by using fake and inappropriate bills in the name of medical purposes.

According to information based on various reports, the three employees had registered an application for ex post facto approval with fake details about the treatment of one of their wives.

Various sources also said that the fake documents and bills of compensation were submitted to concerned authorities by using fake signatures.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against the trio at the Bhangagarh police station in relation to the scam of money. The complaint has been registered by the authorities of GMCH on Friday 28 January.

There has been a number of such embezzlement cases registered against APDCL employees that came to light after the accused were caught red-handed for their involvement in illegal activities of money through fake documentation.

Earlier in a big development in last year most the APDCL employees including the assistant general manager of the power distribution company were found involved in a huge money scam

The employees along with the manager were suspended for embezzling an amount of Rupees 1.46 crore since the year 2017. The employees were found forging the medical referral documents and compensation bills.

Among the total amount of Rupees 1.46 crore, over Rupees, 90.18 lakh was later recovered after a departmental inquiry in the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited.
