GUWAHATI: At the Kamakhya Railway Station in Guwahati, three Bangladeshi nationals were detained for breaking Indian immigration laws.
In a coordinated operation on Wednesday, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Police detained the Bangladeshi nationals. Abdul Kayum, Ajim Ali, and Sajjil Miya have been named as the three people who have been detained. The three individuals are Sylhet district natives of Bangladesh.
Many unlawful documents, including phoney passports and Aadhar cards, have reportedly been confiscated from the trio's possession. The three Bangladeshi nationals were reportedly stationed in Kashmir earlier, for job purposes.
Two citizens of Bangladesh were detained in Silchar, Assam, last year for breaking Indian immigration laws. The police reportedly detained the two Bangladeshi nationals at Silchar Railway Station.
The two Bangladeshi nationals have been recognised by authorities as Khokan Fakir and Mijanur Rahman. The police said that they had been taken into custody. Authorities added that on October 17, with the assistance of brokers, the two had crossed the border into Indian Territory.
Police officers stated that they had purportedly spent a few days working at a company in Kerala.
Over 18 Bangladeshis, including 10 women, were detained by the Maharashtra Police on March 4 for staying unlawfully in the Thane region of Maharashtra.
The police detained the Bangladeshi citizens after receiving information that they would congregate at a building in Navi Mumbai's Ghansoli neighbourhood to celebrate one of their wedding anniversaries.
The people living in the district had been there for a year and lacked valid identification like passports and visas. According to the police, an offence was registered against them under the Foreigners Act of 1946 and the Passport (Entry into India) Rules of 1950, and an investigation is currently underway.
