Assam: 38th anniversary of Nalbari District Day celebrated

NALBARI: The 38th anniversary of Nalbari district since its separation from the then undivided Kamrup district on August 14, 1985 was celebrated as ‘Nalbari District Day’ on Monday.

As part of the celebration, a seminar on ‘Our Goals and Dreams in Construction and Development of Modern Nalbari’ was held at Nalbari Natya Mandir. It was succeeded by Basudha Bandan. The seminar was addressed by Simanta Shekhar, Chairman, Assam Film Finance Development Corporation. The seminar was welcomed by the newly-appointed District Commissioner of Nalbari district, Varnali Deka. In her brief speech, she expressed her delight to be able to celebrate such a proud and historic day in Nalbari district.

The event was attended by minister and local MLA Jayant Mallabaruah as the chief guest. He fluently presented the picture of the district moving towards development in line with the theme of the seminar. He mentioned the development works being done in the district at various levels and said that Nalbari district can be established as a human resource generating city of wisdom in the coming days with the addition of various higher-level institutions in the field of education.

Another distinguished guest, chief editor of Niyomiya Barta newspaper, Naresh Kalita, in his brief speech said that it is very important to recognize those who are really leading the path of development in the district and to take necessary measures to pave their way.

The event was also attended by Dr Umesh Chakrabarty, a prominent physician and social worker. He urged all the participants to establish Nalbari district as a safe district, especially for women.
