Assam: 5-day Book fair inaugurated in Margherita College

TINSUKIA: “Though we maintain a budget to buy daily necessities but keep no budget to buy books, a part of the budget should also be set aside for buying books,” advocated Dr Bhringeshwar Sarma, a renowned writer in the state while inaugurating a 5-day Margherita College Book Fair 2024 as chief guest. He opined that one need not go to the book fair to buy books instead everyone should be encouraged to have a library at home and visit book fair as and when it occurs. People should change their mind set to treat book fair as festival, said Dr Sarma.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Dr Atanu Kakati, Principal of Margherita College and was addressed by college management committee president Pranab Gogoi, Ledo College Principal Dr Kripa Prasad Upadhyay, Sanjita Chetia, Dr.Anjumani Barua, Vice-Principal Gautam Purkayastha and others were present as guests. The event moderated by Dr Ramen Hazarika and Dr Runjun Shaikia was also deliberated by prominent social worker Krishna Kumar Saikia, poet Ashwini Gogoi and Tinsukia District Journalists Association General Secretary Ranajyoti Neog. A poet’s conference was held which was conducted by prominent poet and translator Kaustavmani Dutta Saikia.
