Assam: 6 Dead, 4 Injured In Two Separate Road Accidents In Nalbari

As many as 6 persons lost their lives and 4 were seriously injured in two separate road accidents in Nalbari district of Assam on Wednesday night.

NALBARI: Just as the state is immersed in Raas festivities, a pale of gloom descended over Nalbari district as total of six persons lost their lives and several others injured in separate road accidents on the night of Wednesday.

In a tragic road mishap reported from Bankusi area of the district along the national highway, at least five persons were killed. Besides that, two others were seriously injured.

As per information, the accident occurred at Howly in the district when seven persons on board a Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire were returning from a Raas event. Just when they approached the Bankusi area, the speeding vehicle met with a collision with the concrete railings along the national highway. This massive collision led to the fatalities.

The five deceased were identified as Jahedul Rahman, Ajit Chaliha, Rahul Ali, Srimanta and Shankar. On the other hand, two persons identified as Abhijeet Kalita and Eyazul Rahman who were seriously injured were rushed to Gauhati Medical College Hospital. Their treatment is going on.

In a separate incident reported from Ghograpar in Nalbari district, a woman was killed and two others were seriously injured. It is learnt that their vehicle collided with the concrete railings of a highway most likely as a result of overspeeding. The trio were on their return journey to Nalbari from a Raas function at Palashbari.

The deceased has been identified as Parishmita Kalita and the injured are Bhaskar Kalita and Sushmita Kalita respectively.

It may be recalled here that earlier on November 11, another tragic accident took place at Loharkatha along the Hajo-Doulashal road in Nalbari district. In the incident that happened due to collision between a motorcycle and four-wheeler, 1 person lost his life while 5 others were seriously injured. It was reported that the four-wheeler was carrying a patient from Barpeta to Guwahati.
