MORIGAON: State Water Resources, Information and Public Relations Minister Piyush Hazarika on Thursday participated in the Amrit Kalash Yatra programme under the ‘Mur Mati Mur Desh’ campaign at Baghara in the Morigaon district.
He participated in a procession of about 6 km from Baghara Chariali to Baghara Panchayat in the district. The programme was attended by Morigaon District Commissioner Devashish Sharma, SP Hemanta Kr. Das, and others. Despite light to heavy rain, everyone participated in the Amrit Kalash Yatra with great enthusiasm in a festive atmosphere. The minister then addressed a meeting at the Baghara Panchayat office premises and thanked the people who spontaneously came out to participate in the procession despite being soaked in the rain. He especially appreciated the enthusiasm and efforts of the women. He said the area has been newly included in the Jagiroad constituency. The minister assured that he would continue to work with the people for the development of the region in the future.
The Morigaon administration is making efforts to make the Amrit Kalash Yatra a success in every way under the ‘Mur Mati Mur Desh’ campaign. The district administration has organized processions in places to ensure that people participate spontaneously, inspired by the spirit of patriotism. The 85 Gaon Panchayats of the district are continuing various programmes under the ‘Mur Mati Mur Desh’ campaign. Land has been collected from every household till October 1 and brought to the Gaon Panchayat or Municipal Office in Amrit Kalhat.
The Amrit Kalah will be sent in a procession from each Gaon Panchayat to the office of the Zonal Development Officer. The two brass urns filled with holy soil already collected at the Development Zone/Municipal Office will be sent to the state-level function to be held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Panjabari, Guwahati on October 15.
