Assam: 8th foundation day of Konwerpur Press Club concludes

Konwerpur Press Club established in 2016 completed 8 years of journey on January 20. On the eve of its 8th foundation day, a function was held at veteran educationist Bhim Kanta Knower Samannoy Kshetra ,Santipur High school in Sivasagar.

GAURISAGAR: Konwerpur Press Club established in 2016 completed 8 years of journey on January 20. On the eve of its 8th foundation day, a function was held at veteran educationist Bhim Kanta Knower Samannoy Kshetra ,Santipur High school in Sivasagar. The day-long programme started with smriti tarpan by lighting of lamp infront of the portraits of Karuna Dutta, Khagen Baruah and Hem Buragohain. Dipak Arandhara, headmaster of Nakatani High School, Jyoti Baruah, chief adviser of Konwerpur Press Club and Rituparna Bharali, secretary of Konwerpur Press Club performed the smriti tarpan function.

Thereafter, an open session was held where Padum Kumar Saikia, president of Konwerpur Press Club conducted the meeting. The whole programme was conducted by journalist Rajib Dutta while Debojyoti Gogoi, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar and Chairaideo districts  inaugurated the meeting. Dr. Jyoti Prasad Saikia,Vice Chancellor  of Sati Sadhani State University, Assam took part as a distinguish guest.

Addressing the gathering Dr.Saikia said that the relevance of thoughts has changed. “We must develop the process of thought among the new generation.”

In the meeting Sanjib Phukan, executive editor of Dainik Janambhumi participated as an appointed speaker. Educationist Govin Chandra Borah, Bijoy Krishan Dutta and Joyjyoti Gogoi, secretary, Sivasagar District Journalist Association took part as invited  guests.
