BONGAIGAON: The 8th seminar of the Assam Academy of Mathematics (AAM) was held successfully on Sunday at Birjhora Public Library of Bongaigaon.
The seminar, held in the memory of Santiram Das, was conducted by Arup Jyoti Mazumdar, Secretary, Assam Academy of Mathematics, Bongaigaon Branch. The programme started with lightning of lamp by Manabendra Das, president of the branch, and the seminar was inaugurated by Phani Bhusan Choudhury, MLA of Bongaigaon, which was followed by a welcome speech by Dr Ashish Paul, Secretary General of Assam Academy of Mathematics (AAM).
Birabrata Das Choudhury, working president of AAM, spoke about the life of Santiram Das. Speaker Dr Dilip Sarma, former Head of the Department of Mathematics, Cotton College gave a brief lecture on the history of Mathematics. A small manuscript was also published on this occasion .
