GOLAGHAT: The Vice president of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) of Assam State Rajiv Saikia responded to remarks made by Nitin Gadkari regarding finishing the construction of four lanes before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In a press statement he said, “Finish the four-lane project before the next Lok Sabha elections, not in June 2024. If not, the Assamese people won't be pleased with your assurance.” National highways covering north Assam and upper Assam will be upgraded to four lanes within four years.

In the last eight years, the BJP-led central and state governments have not been able to complete the work of four-lanes. Alleging that there is a huge gap between the words and works of minister Gadkari, the AAP leader said that the construction of only 90 km of road from Numaligarh to Dibrugarh could not be completed in eight years.

This is nothing but an election-centric false promise. Similarly, expressing concern over the slow pace of construction of the bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Nimati-Majuli, the AAP leader asked the BJP government, “ Will the construction of this bridge be completed by 2025 as promised by you?”
