Guwahati: The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) women wing has sought a thorough investigation into the mishap, where a 24-year-old female tea worker, was critically injured while working in a tea factory in Dibrugarh district.

According to reports, a woman named Moina Nayak sustained severe injuries while working near the CTC machine at the Lepetkata tea factory in the Dibrugarh district on July 19.

"We urge the government to take necessary steps to find out the culprits and booked those who are responsible for the accident of Nayak,'' said Anamika Das, state convener of Mahila Shakti, the women wing of APP, while addressing media persons on Monday.

"Mere compensation is not enough. We want those who are responsible for the accident to be arrested. We want a thorough investigation into the matter to find out the truth," Das added.

Das further accused the Leptakatta tea estate management of violating the safety norms.

''The big question is how the woman got entry at CTC for work. The management had violated all the rules and following this the accident occurred,'' he said.

Following the mishap, Nayak was immediately rushed to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for preliminary treatment and later shifted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Reportedly, Nayak sustained severe eye, ear, and nose injuries for which she would have to undergo plastic surgery.
