Assam: Agriculture awareness meet held at Teleni Village, Gophur

BISWANATH CHARIALI: An awareness meet was organized at Teleni Village, Ghahigaon, Gophur on Saturday with the farmers of Chaiduar Farmer Producer Company Limited where more than 100 farmers participated. Bijoy Dutta, former District Agriculture Officer, Biswanath, Lakhimi Bordoloi, president of Kailyanpur Gaon Panchayat, Vinod Pandey, Chariman of Chaidura FPC, Divyashree Saikia, Programme Officer, District Agriculture Office, Biswanath were present. Divyashree Saikia in her speech elaborated on the importance and necessity of FPC to the farmers present at the event.

Krishna Dihingia, BTM urged the gathered farmers to enrol themselves in PMKISAN and about the ongoing paddy procurement registration and avail the benefits of the schemes. Pankaj Baruah, Research Technician, APART gave details on the types of paddy given from department and mini combined harvester- recent technologies added to agriculture by the Central government and encouraged the farmers to take the advantage of the innovations.

The insurance company representatives enlightened the farmers on the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. This time for summer paddy in Biswanath district farmers can avail insurance of mustard, potato and Bodo paddy. The scheme offers comprehensive insurance coverage against crop failure and stabilizes the income of the farmers.

Former District Agriculture Officer Bijoy Dutta briefed about the ongoing government schemes. Mustard seeds were distributed to the farmers present in the event. An interactive session was conducted wherein different problems and issues faced by the farmers were discussed and solutions were given by the experts who attained the awareness meet.
