Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora takes part in final rehearsal of Bihu dance

A total of 850 Bihu dancers participated in the final rehearsal which had been going on at the district level for the last few days.

SIVASAGAR: Final rehearsal of Bihu dance by dancers who will perform in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14 at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati, was done at Sivasagar College Stadium, Joysagar on Sunday. A total of 850 Bihu dancers participated in the final rehearsal which had been going on at the district level for the last few days.

A mega Bihu dance will be performed on April 14 at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati under the aegis of the Assam Government with the aim to find a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for highest number of Bihu dancers.

Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi, Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia and Thowra MLA Sushanta Borgohain, accompanied by Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav, visited the Sibsagar College Stadium to witness the final rehearsal. Minister Atul Bora also played the drum and sang a Bihu song on the occasion.

Witnessing the final rehearsal, minister Atul Bora said that it was a very good step taken by the government to take Bihu to the world stage and sought cooperation of all. He also said that it was very nice to try to get a name in the Guinness Book of World Records by performing Bihu dance and urged everyone to ensure that the uniqueness of Bihu is not lost.
