JAMUGURIHAT: The Annual Prize Distribution and Sports Week of Gyan Bharati Public School (GBPS), Sootea concluded on Thursday. The week-long programme began on December 27, 2023 with a spectacular colourful march-past and flag hoisting ceremony inaugurated by Atul Chandra Borah, Principal and Rajib Boruah, secretary respectively. As a part of the school week, competitions were held on various sports activities like high jumps, long jumps, 100 and 200 meters race, 400 meters relay race, discus throw, needle race, kabaddi etc.
Padma Hazarika, MLA of Naduar Legislative Constituency graced the occasion and highly applauded the initiative of the school. He opined that the need of the hour calls for an invincible relationship among koka, aaita and nati so as to build up a strong human resource element.
The prize distribution and open house session with cultural programmes was held on Thursday with Jiban Sharma in the chair. Dr Chinta Moni Sharma, Principal of Biswanath College, graced the occasion as distinguished speaker. The session was also attended by Gopal Krishna Goswami, Paresh Borkakoti, Md. Nurul Islam, Dr. Parag Hazarika, Bishnu Baruah, Naren Borah, Ramen Borah, Mikul Kalita among others. Students from class Nursery to X presented colourful cultural programmes which enthralled the audiences. The reports of the Principal covered every aspect of the school. The ‘Sankardev’ house was awarded the “Best Overall Performing House” of the year.
