Assam Assembly Election 2021: 2,33,74,087 General Electors to Exercise their Voting Rights

In the Special Summary Revision, a total of 12,81,918 electors have been newly enrolled while the state has a total of 2,89,474 electors who are above 80 years.

GUWAHATI: For the ensuing general election to the Assam Legislative Assembly – 2021, there are in total 2,33,74,087 general electors in the state. Out of these, 1,18,23,286 are males; 1,15,50,403 are females and 398 are trans genders. Apart from these, there are also 63,074 service voters.

There are 81,09,815 general electors in the first phase. Out of these, 40,77,210 are males, 40,32,481 are females and 124 are trans genders.

There are 73,44,631 general electors in the second phase. Out of these, 37,34,537 are males, 36,09,959 are females and 135 are trans genders.

There are 79,19,641 general electors in the third phase. Out of these, 40,11,539 males, 39,07,963 females and 139 trans genders.

The constituencies having the highest number of electors in Phase I is Jonai (ST) LAC, under the Dhemaji revenue district with 449 polling stations and having 3,11,660 electors.

In Phase II it is Hojai LAC with 373 polling station and having 2,65,886 electors and in Phase III it is Dispur LAC with 607 polling stations and having 4,11,636 electors. Meanwhile, the constituencies having the lowest number of electors in Phase I is Thowra LAC in the Sivasagar revenue district with 165 polling stations and having 1,15,364 electors.

In Phase II it is Howraghat (ST) LAC in Karbi Anglong revenue district with 195 polling stations and having 1,32,339 electors and in Phase III it is Chapaguri (ST) LAC in Baksa revenue district with 236 polling stations and having 1,59,257 electors.

So, the state-wise constituency with the highest number of electors is Dispur LAC with 4,11,636 electors and the state-wise constituency with the lowest number of electors is Thowra LAC with 1,15,364 electors.

In the Special Summary Revision, a total of 12,81,918 electors have been newly enrolled. The state has a total of 2,89,474 electors who are above 80 years of age.

Meanwhile, the election campaign for all three phases in Assam will end 48 hours prior to the close of polls. In this regard, the election campaign in 47 constituencies under Phase I will come to an end at 6 pm on March 25, 2021, i.e., 48 hours prior to the close of polls on March 27, 2021. This is in accordance with the Election Commission's guidelines under the provisions enacted in Section 126 of Representation of Peoples' Act, 1951.

During this period, no person shall convene, hold or attend, join or address any public meetings, processions, etc, and display of election matter by means of television and similar apparatus. It also prohibits propagation of any election matter to the public by holding any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement with a view to attracting the members of the public, in any polling area during the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of the poll.
