TINSUKIA: For the forthcoming Assam election, the Election Commission has extended the postal ballot option to the differentially-abled and senior citizens above 80 years of age and COVID suspected or COVID affected voters. A press release issued by DIPRO Tinsukia stated that the persons desirous of availing the option have to apply in 12(D) format along with necessary certificate to the respective BLO within five days. Though no age proof certificate is required for persons above 80 years of age but persons with disability and COVID affected have to submit certificates from competent authority, the release said, adding that the persons can cast their votes at home after their applications are found valid by the Returning Officer following verification.
