Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary visits Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi

Newly-elected Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Biswajit Daimary on Tuesday morning reached the residence of India's Vice-President and chairman of Rajya Sabha, Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi.

BAKSA: Newly-elected Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Biswajit Daimary on Tuesday morning reached the residence of India's Vice-President and chairman of Rajya Sabha, Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi. Daimary visited M Venkaiah Naidu a day after it was decided that the Bodo language would be spoken on the floor of the Assam Legislative Assembly at a meeting held in Dispur on Monday.

Biswajit Daimary, who belongs to the Bodo community, is expected to work towards the uplift of the Bodo communy and for the safeguard of the rights and privileges of the community. Biswajit Daimary was on May 21 elected unopposed as the Speaker of the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly. He was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha in February 2021 after he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Bodoland People's Front (BPF). He contested the 2021 assembly polls from Panery LAC and won by a margin of 35,852 votes over BPF nominee Karuna Kanta Swargiary.
