Assam: Awareness to combat spread of dengue

In a proactive move to combat the spread of dengue in the urban areas of Dhubri district, the National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC) launched a comprehensive Fortnight Dengue Source Reduction Survey which will continue till November 14.

DHUBRI: In a proactive move to combat the spread of dengue in the urban areas of Dhubri district, the National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC) launched a comprehensive Fortnight Dengue Source Reduction Survey which will continue till November 14. The initiative has already yielded significant results as 5,669 households and 5,745 containers have been surveyed, with 67 household and 99 containers testing positive for dengue sources till November 7

The campaign is being executed with the dedicated efforts of several healthcare professionals such as ASHA, MPW, SW, SI, MI, VBDTS have taken an active role in conducting household surveys aimed at identifying and eliminating dengue breeding sources. Simultaneously, a community awareness campaign is being conducted to educate the local people on the importance of dengue prevention measures. To further disseminate information, leaflets have been distributed to households, providing guidelines on dengue prevention and source reduction.

Additionally, fever surveys are being conducted in the surveyed areas. Moreover, Field Loud Speaker (FLS) is being carried out in Dhubri urban in collaboration with DIPRO, Dhubri. The programme’s success and progress are being closely monitored by a team of dedicated healthcare professionals both at district and BPHC level. The diligent efforts of healthcare workers, community leaders, and the active involvement of authorities have given hope to the residents of Dhubri district in their fight against dengue.
