Assam: Badarpur OC Reserve Closed After Firing Episode

GUWAHATI: In Assam, the Badarpur Police Station's officer in charge was on reserve as a result of a shooting that occurred within the station's boundaries. 

According to early reports, OC Chandan Goswami of the Badarpur Police Station was on reserve with immediate effect. After a shooting incident last night, the order to reserve him was given. 

According to information obtained, the Badarpur Police used blank fire during a mission to apprehend a criminal. Ruhul Amin has been identified as the miscreant.  On the basis of numerous accusations lodged against him at the Badarpur Police Station, the police had gone to arrest him. 

Ruhul Amin reportedly became involved in a fight and attacked the police officers, so they had to use blank ammunition to try to calm the situation.  Furious villagers gheraoed the Badarpur Police Station in response to the incident that occurred after the Taraweeh Namaz, escalating tensions. The police finally fired a shot to disperse the crowd. 

Further reports state that the crowd tried to obstruct the main highway that runs between Assam and Tripura. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Partha Pratim Das arrived at the scene after learning about the event. The ASP eventually gave in to the angry citizens' requests to close the OC of the Badarpur Police Station. 

The Karimganj district superintendent of police (SP) then issued orders to reserve the closure of OC Chandan Goswami's Badarpur Police Station.  Also, a reorganisation was announced that same evening, with Dwipen Kalita being named the new OC of the Badarpur Police Station. 

The incident was finally brought under control after the people were reassured by the officer involved, Chandan Goswami's reserve close order.

In a horrifying event, on March 28, thugs attacked a guy in Golaghat, Assam, after they shot two rounds of ammunition at his home. According to early reports, the criminals entered the home of a man named Jogeshwar Nath, where they discharged two bullets from a 9 mm pistol. 

However, there were no reports of any casualties or injuries.  According to reports, the police have opened an investigation into the event and begun a manhunt to find the miscreants who arrived while covering their faces with black fabric.
