Assam: Barpeta district committee of Bodo Sahitya Sabha felicitated meritorious students

Barpeta district committee of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) on Sunday felicitated meritorious students of Bodo medium who stood in the 1st division in the last HSLC and HS examination, 2023.

KOKRAJHAR: Barpeta district committee of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) on Sunday felicitated meritorious students of Bodo medium who stood in the 1st division in the last HSLC and HS examination, 2023. As many as 37 Bodo students of Barpeta district who passed the HSLC and HS examination sitting in 1st division were felicitated in the special felicitation ceremony held at Kanthalguri organized by Barpeta district BSS in association with Sarupeta primary BSS.

The felicitation ceremony which was chaired by Sukhen Swargiary, president of Barpeta district BSS, was attended by Matison Daimary, Associate Professor of Bagadhar Brahma Kissan College, Jalah as chief guest. The felicitation ceremony was also attended by EM of Education, Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) Anil Basumatary and EM of Culture, BKWAC Pranab Boro as special guests and Mahipal Boro, Associate Professor of Bagadhar Brahma Kissam College, Jalah as distinguished guest.

In his speech, EM of Education, BKWAC Anil Basumatary said education was the key to development of a society and the nation. He said the Bodo medium in Assam had been facing problems of poor school infrastructure, shortage of text books, adequate teachers and congenial atmosphere. Most of the Bodo medium schools are ventures where teachers are inadequate and class rooms are not fit enough, he said adding that these shortcomings were the cause for poor result in Bodo medium. He, however, said the result of Bodo medium was significantly improving since the past few years. He also said the department of education of BKAC had been trying to improve the Bodo medium schools and education outside BTC and focus is being given on improvement of quality education.
